This is the town I work in, Tunstall, taken from the town I first lived in when I moved to Stoke-on-Trent, Burslem. This is a view that I theoretically see pretty often but while passing down this street your eye can see so much more and usually focusses on the road. When driving today I noticed how many of the nice buildings I could see in the distance so pulled over to see if my 270mm lens could get close enough in. It did, and the parts I wanted to capture pleasingly filled the whole frame, giving a different perspective to the one I usually see. Instead of trying to get round the street lights and the foreground houses, they actually made a more rounded image.

A bit of a failed attempt at cave photography. This is the best of the bunch and doesn't even get close to what I was trying to achieve! Bit more research required before the next attempt.

I was determined to find something to photograph in the caving hut this evening after all these weren't many other options with the sky overcast and me keen to get to bed. I actually quite like this simple image of some old furniture complete with old magazines.

This is Victoria Hall in Stoke, venue for various performances and concerts. It is VERY colourfully lit, with the lights on a scrolling cycle of various modes. This was the most garish and I was pleased I managed to capture it before it changed despite the 6 second exposure. This isn't really a hard photo to take, but I think it was worth capturing!

I had a lovely ride on the motorbike today to get a bit of work done at Chester, and on the way I passed a sign for the staircase locks at Bunbury. On the way back I stopped off to have a look. It was a really lovely autumn day and the colours on the trees and in the reflections on the water were just beautiful.

This is The Crescent in Buxton, originally a Georgian spa developed in the 18th Century by the Duke of Devonshire using his mining profits and modelled on ones in Bath. It has been empty several years but is being restored with the help of lottery funding.

I've got an SLR again! Well, a body, still waiting for a lens. In the meantime the old one is still functional even if the elements are damaged by water scum reducing the image quality. It meant I could get the LEDs out again though.

Into the last quarter of the year and I have high hopes for having a new SLR before the end of next week, in the mean-time bear with me! This shot was an accident as I had the white balance wrong. I corrected it, and came out with a very ordinary shot which I would have just abandoned, but I quite like this one, it reminds me of a horror film - moonlight, something eerily odd, a focus on a trivial item.

I really really wished I'd had an SLR with me this evening - coming home from a motorbike ride and there was mist lying on the fields and a moon in the red sky. Beautiful! Thankfully this field mist happens quite often in the Churnet Valley so I shall have to see it as an opportunity and head back.
